Refined for dedicated mono operation
The Burmester 216 Power Amplifier has always delivered exceptional performance. Configured as a dedicated mono power amplifier, it goes further — channelling the full combined output of both stereo stages into a single load, without compromise.
The dedicated Mono version of the 216 is a purpose-built configuration. Its rear-panel layout provides immediate XLR input and direct bi-wiring support. It offers greater headroom, tighter low-impedance control and the transparency that only a mono amplifier can provide. For listeners who want to benefit from mono operation, the 216 offers this benchmark on a scale proportionate to real listening environments.
Why the dedicated mono configuration
Combined Power, Single Channel
When ordered as a dedicated mono amplifier, the 216 delivers the full output of both stereo channels to a single speaker load. Power and dynamic headroom are maximised.
Native Bi-Wiring
A clearly labelled rear panel distinguishes the mono configuration at a glance and ensures correct installation. In addition it provides two pairs of speaker terminals directly on the amplifier. Upper and lower frequency ranges could be controlled separately with dedicated cable runs — without splitting adapters or additional complexity.
Independent Power Supply & Grounding
Each mono unit operates with its own dedicated power supply and isolated ground path. Crosstalk between channels is eliminated entirely.
Superior Low-Impedance Control
Speakers with low or complex impedance curves demand amplifiers that do not flinch. The 216 Mono's enhanced headroom and dedicated output stage deliver effortless authority even into the most demanding loads.
Spatial Fidelity & Transparency
Separate mono amplifiers create a wider, more precisely defined soundstage. With no shared resources between channels, each instrument occupies its own space — the stereo image opens up in a way that is immediately audible.

One unit or two — the right constellation for your system
The 216 Mono is available individually or as a matched pair. Both paths lead to a meaningfully better system — the choice depends on where you are starting from.
Existing 216 Stereo owner
Retrofit your current 216 to a mono configuration, then add a second dedicated mono unit. Your existing investment becomes the foundation of a fully symmetrical mono pair.
New system with ideal amplification
Order a matched pair from the outset. Each 216 drives one channel with complete independence — separate power, separate ground, full headroom. The definitive stereo system, built from two mono amplifiers.
